Stuff You Should Know About Buying Computer Supplies
A Brief History of the ChillPak
The origin of the ChillPak began a few years ago when its inventor – Dean Haglund * - was working on his top-of-the-line model laptop & he became increasingly frustrated that the processor would work so slowly (sound familiar?). It was a scenario that repeated itself often – the processor would slow down, then lock up.
Then, as so many ideas have happened, one day, while Dean was working on his laptop and simultaneously icing a sore knee with a gel pack from the freezer, he, by chance, moved the laptop to rest on his legs on top of the gel pack. Suddenly, it was as if the laptop just “woke up” & the CPU started working as fast as originally advertised.
The gel pack drew heat away from the CPU – faster than a fan would (think about it – when a joint is strained, the area around the joint becomes warm, sometimes hot. Doctors recommendation? Put ice on the area! (Using a fan for a strain or sprain doesn’t quite cut it.) The idea of the ChillPak came to life.
After overcoming a major roadblock by finding a material that prevented condensation from forming so that a laptop/notebook could sit on the ChillPak, the era of cooling a laptop via the ChillPak was born !
Using the ChillPak simply could not be easier. After freezing the unit, place the laptop on top of the specially-constructed outer layer designed to protect both the ChillPak and your laptop and you’ll get up to 4 hours of cooling performance before needing a re-charge. It’s environmentally safe, and can be used over & over, allowing your laptop to run at above benchmark specifications.
There’s nothing to plug in – no programs to upload or download. Just hours of cooling relief for your laptop.
* You may remember Dean as an actor from the “X-Files” series where he spent 10 years as the long-haired member of the “Lone Gunmen”.
