An insurance broker client called Ibis Computer Supplies a while back to ask if we could search for and provide a product that could be used as a cover for the presentation of insurance quotations. What they were looking for was not the standard cover that’s found in a Staples, Office Depot, or a general business supplies catalog.

They were requesting a product design that was clear (“see-through” in its entirety) including 5 “see through” tabbed dividers and “see-through” pockets on both the inside front & inside back covers.

After research, Ibis Computer Supplies was able to find a vendor who provided this type of product (& many other types of products with similar designs) at a very reasonable cost. The client was very happy with the results - the product was exactly what they had requested and delivered at price much less than what had been budgeted.

As an authorized dealer for Dell Products, Ibis Computer Supplies can provide solutions for most, if not all hardware requirements.

A business acquaintance of Ibis Computer Supplies – at that point, not a client  - was in the process of upgrading his company's computer system with Dell hardware.  Working with a consulting firm, the company had ordered the system, including the hard drives, processors, monitors, etc. through the consulting firm.

Subsequently, during a casual discussion with us, this purchase was mentioned along with the pricing. They asked if the prices they had paid were reasonable. We told them that if they had worked with us, their costs would have been a lot less. To prove this we asked if there were any other purchases planned so that we could quote them.

It just so happened that the company was looking into a high speed, multi-function, color printer.  They had already received a quote from the consulting firm so, when they received the Ibis quote, they immediately called us. Their first questions was “Are you sure you’re quoting the same product?”  After reassuring them that we were, the next question was “Are you sure you’re making a profit?” We, then, assured them that we were making a reasonable profit.  The order for the printer followed.

In another situation, a client, who had been a regular purchaser of printer ribbons, laser cartridges, other consumable products, in addition to hardware, called one morning for a quote on a specific type of printer for billing purposes. The intent was for the printer to accept a 4-part, perforated, odd-sized, continuous form for the company’s billings.

After finding the printer and presenting the quote,  we got another call accepting the quote, however, in addition, another request was made – could we quote on the forms, too?!

Having not done so prior to this request, we did the research and  - voila’ – we managed to present a comparable quotation for the printing of the forms and received the approval from our client to deliver both the printer and the forms.

At one time, Ibis Computer Supplies maintained a client base in the Caribbean primarily providing  printer ribbons and office supplies. One day, however, a call came in from an IT division chief of one of those clients with a “special” request.

It seemed that his wife, being, as he described her, a gourmet chef, had been hinting to him for quite a while, that there was a kitchen appliance that she desperately would love to have.  So, as an anniversary present, he planned on giving her the appliance, but his problem was that he could not find it in any catalog or store he had searched. It turned out that the appliance was a “restaurant grade” industrial food processor.

Given the specifications, we did our research, found the appliance, shipped it to him in time for his anniversary surprise - he was one happy client.
